The Witch's House: The Diary of Ellen

Ellen has spent her entire life at the mercy of illness, her frail body leaving her wholly dependent on the devoted care of her mother. That unconditional love is the one comfort she has ever known—until a horrific turn of events poisons the bond between them. Suddenly stripped of the affection she clings to, Ellen sinks into despair, convinced that the love she yearns for will never be hers and that her life is as good as over. Then, just when all hope seems lost, a mysterious black cat crosses her path. It offers her something extraordinary: strange powers and a house to call her own. To Ellen, this gift seems to transform her miserable existence overnight, finally promising the happiness she has always been denied. But her apparent salvation conceals a sinister truth. As the newly minted witch settles into her new life, she gradually uncovers the gruesome secrets hidden within the house's ever-changing walls—and comes to realize that the very home meant to save her may be the greatest threat of all.
