Shinichi Chiaki, the son of a renowned pianist, aspires to study abroad and become a conductor, inspired by his mentor. However, his fear of flying hinders his plans, and as he watches his classmates achieve their goals, he begins to question his own future in music. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Megumi Noda, affectionately known as Nodame, a quirky and talented pianist who, despite being unable to cook, clean, or read music scores, possesses an extraordinary gift for playing in the Cantabile style. Through her unorthodox approach to music, Nodame reminds Chiaki of the joy of playing, teaching him to appreciate the beauty of music regardless of his location or circumstances.
