For You Who Grieves

The impact of the collision should have been the end of Doyoon Kim. Against every odd, he draws breath again, yet waking brings no solace—only the jarring reality of a hospital bed and a body that is unmistakably not his own, mended but marred by someone else's scars. Struggling to reconcile his consciousness with this foreign vessel, he forces himself back into the rhythms of university life, hoping to reclaim a fragment of his former existence. But the campus, once familiar, now feels like a stage for a ghost, and Doyoon moves through it carrying a secret that isolates him from everyone he knows. It is there that he encounters Hangyeol, a friend from the past who now appears as a hollowed version of himself. Grief has carved deep lines into Hangyeol's demeanor, rendering him distant, unreachable, and utterly unwilling to acknowledge the person standing before him. He rebuffs Doyoon's attempts at connection, locked away in a fortress of loss over the friend he believes is gone forever. Yet, beneath Hangyeol's cold resistance, an inexplicable pull begins to stir. He finds himself caught off guard by the stranger's mannerisms, the subtle inflections in his voice, and the weight of his gaze—a disorienting familiarity that makes his heart grapple with an impossible hope. To Hangyeol, this newcomer is an eerie, haunting reflection of the man he still mourns, a mirror that forces him to confront a love he has not yet laid to rest.
