Peninsula: Running a Guesthouse on Jeju Island

Set in a semi-fictional 2019, Li Ran inherits a seaside guesthouse on Jeju Island after burning out from the relentless rat race. Uninterested in further ambition, he seeks only a quiet life of early retirement and establishes a set of unusual house rules: no prying questions, no photography, and no gossip. His first long-term tenant is a woman who arrives heavily bundled up and secludes herself in her room for three days. Within these walls, she ceases to be the controversial "crazy beauty" under the public gaze and becomes simply Choi Jin-ri, stealing bread by the refrigerator late at night. Over time, the guesthouse becomes a sanctuary for other weary souls pushed along by the world's expectations. From the insomnia-plagued "Nation's Little Sister" Lee Ji-eun and the aloof captain Bae Ju-hyun to Park Ji-yeon, who has fallen from the height of her fame, each finds a safe harbor where they can finally be themselves. Through it all, Li Ran remains the steadfast keeper of the guesthouse, leaving a light on and a warm meal ready for every exhausted traveler seeking peace.
