Chameleon wa Tenohira ni Koi o Suru.

Fujinaga is a third-year university actor who lives for the stage—yet after one too many failed auditions, his passion is slowly curdling into despair. On the verge of abandoning the craft that defines him, he crosses paths with Keito, a deaf freshman on the same campus. That chance encounter opens a door Fujinaga never knew existed: the world of sign language. For an actor who has always staked his identity on the power of vocal delivery and physical expression, this silent lexicon proves unexpectedly intuitive. He finds himself deciphering unfamiliar hand signs with startling ease, and when he ventures to sign back—guided by raw instinct and gesture alone—he leaves Keito speechless in the most literal sense. Keito, who has long navigated a world that rarely listens, can only describe the experience with quiet wonder: “My eyes have never heard so clearly before.” In Fujinaga’s clumsy, heartfelt attempts at signing, he senses something rare—a person who doesn’t just perform understanding, but genuinely reaches for it. Bound by a shared hunger to be truly seen and heard, the two young men forge a connection that transcends spoken words. What begins as a meeting of minds deepens into something far more fragile and profound—a love story built not on sound, but on the spaces between, where meaning is felt in the curve of a hand and the earnestness of a glance.
