Uta is a teenage girl who shares a home with her older brother Reiichi and his wife Kaoru. Their household has become the quiet center of her daily life, and within its walls she finds herself closer than ever to the two people she cares about most. That peace of mind collapses, however, the moment she confronts an undeniable truth about herself: she has fallen in love with Kaoru—her brother's wife. The feelings are entirely one-sided, and knowing they can never be returned plunges Uta into painful inner turmoil. She tries desperately to push the emotions aside, yet Kaoru remains constantly in her thoughts, no matter how hard she fights to forget. Seeking a way to make sense of it all, Uta confides in her friend on several occasions, hoping an outside perspective might help her break free from this hopeless love. But every conversation ends the same way, with Kaoru still filling her mind. Worse still, Uta cannot shake the fear of what might happen if her feelings spiral out of control—the dread that one wrong step could shatter the delicate bonds of her family and send her relationships tumbling down a dark, irreversible road.
