You, the One and Only, and the Seven Billion Grim Reapers

Fifteen years ago, a mysterious ring of light known as the Ray Ring appeared in the sky, wrapping itself around the entire globe. Ever since, the ring has periodically released enigmatic objects—d믭 RUMs—that fall to earth and carve out small pockets of devastation wherever they land. Yet because each descent can be predicted and the resulting damage swiftly contained, the public has grown so accustomed to these incidents that they pay the RUMs little attention, treating them as just another odd fixture of everyday life beneath the ring. It is against this strange, half-forgotten backdrop that Seita Tooki, an utterly ordinary boy, finds his quiet world thrown into chaos. Awayuki Kujou—the girl who has stood as his lifelong rival for as long as he can remember—suddenly confesses her feelings to him. Caught completely off guard, Seita struggles to gather his thoughts, the answer she awaits still caught in his throat. But before he can give her a proper reply, a RUM unexpectedly begins its descent from the sky, threatening to interrupt the moment that could change both their lives forever.
