Eiga "Koe no Katachi" Special Book

Eiga "Koe no Katachi" Special Book is an exclusive side story originally distributed to audiences attending the Japanese theatrical premiere of the A Silent Voice film. This special release offers a deeper look into the personal struggles and daily realities of the characters outside the main narrative, focusing on the intense pressures faced by a family navigating life with a disability. The story centers on Yaeko Nishimiya, a stern and emotionally guarded single mother who bears the sole responsibility of raising her daughter, Shouko. Because Shouko was born with impaired hearing, their everyday lives are marked by significant challenges that demand constant attention and resilience. The weight of managing these difficulties alone places an enormous burden on Yaeko, forcing her to confront the harsh realities of parenting under extraordinary circumstances. Despite the heavy toll that Shouko's condition takes on their household, Yaeko refuses to let hardship define her child's future. Driven by a fierce determination, she commits herself entirely to molding Shouko into a strong, self-reliant young woman capable of facing the world on her own terms. To achieve this ambitious goal, Yaeko remains willing to employ whatever strict parenting methods she deems necessary, ensuring that her daughter develops the independence required to overcome the obstacles ahead.
