Her and Her Cat

The work that Makoto Shinkai created while still working at Falcom is a black and white animation about 5 minutes long. The story describes the daily life of a woman living alone in the city and the cat she accidentally found. This work also won the grand prize in the 12th CG Animation Competition. This work is available in three different versions: a full version, a 3-minute version and a condensed version. It was later included as a video bonus in the DVD version of "Voice of the Stars". From the perspective of a male cat, this cartoon tells the story of the slightly sentimental and indifferent days "he" and his mistress lived under the same roof. One day a long time ago, "he" was picked up and brought home by a beautiful and gentle girl, and he began to live a life that he thought was extremely happy. The girl was alone, doing a job that "he" didn't know and didn't mind why. What "he" cared about was the girl's face when she went out early, the fragrance on her body, the soft words when she greeted "him" and the gentleness when she caressed "him"...so that later, when a cat named "Mimi" confessed her love to "him", "he" politely refused - "he" had already been deeply conquered by the girl. However, as seasons passed, "he" could not soothe her lonely heart. This work was produced in 1999 (see the closing date: 1999) and was released at the DoGA Tokyo screening on April 23, 2000. This is the earliest release record that can be found. Although this work was originally released as a fan work in 1999, it was only in 2002 that the DVD version of Voice of the Stars was released for the first time in three versions, including the full version.
