Set against the turbulent backdrop of late second-century China, during the twilight of the Later Han Dynasty and the dawn of the Three Kingdoms era, LORD follows a formidable warrior from ancient Japan. In 184 AD, having already proven his valor by aiding Queen Himiko in unifying the Japanese islands, this ambitious general sets his sights on an even grander prize: seizing hegemony over the vast Chinese empire. Traveling alone to the region of Yushu, he crosses paths with three legendary figures—Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei—and initially joins forces with them. However, the alliance quickly fractures when the general uncovers Liu Bei’s sinister true nature. When Liu Bei attempts to test a newly forged sword by executing a defenseless criminal, the general intervenes decisively, striking down the treacherous leader. Though Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are initially enraged by the sudden betrayal, the general exposes a deeper truth: their loyalty was never rooted in genuine conviction. Recognizing his superior vision and unwavering resolve, the two warriors ultimately pledge their allegiance to him as their new lord. Together, the trio forges a renewed oath of brotherhood beneath the peach blossoms of Taoyuan, setting forth on a bold campaign to reshape history.
