Twenty-nine-year-old Satoru Fujinuma struggles to find meaning in his monotonous daily routine. His life is further complicated by an involuntary, unexplained ability that forcefully rewinds time—a phenomenon he refers to as "Revival," which seemingly only adds to his frustration. However, everything shifts when a devastating tragedy strikes close to home, triggering a Revival unlike any he has experienced before. Instead of jumping back mere minutes, Satoru is hurled eighteen years into the past, awakening in the body of his eleven-year-old self. Thrust back into his childhood, Satoru is confronted with familiar faces he never expected to see again: his mother, alive and smiling, and his old group of friends. Most importantly, he crosses paths with Kayo Hinazuki, a young girl destined to be kidnapped and murdered during this very period. Realizing that altering her tragic fate may be the key to preventing the catastrophe awaiting him in the future, Satoru resolves to change history. Yet, trapped in a child's body and racing against time to outwit a hidden, ruthless killer, he must determine whether he truly possesses the power to rewrite destiny or if he is merely reliving a nightmare.
