The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese

Kyoichi Ootomo is a passive, weak-willed salaryman trapped in a failing marriage. Unable to resolve his domestic troubles, he begins an extramarital affair, only to discover that his wife has hired a private investigator to uncover the truth. To Kyoichi’s shock, the detective assigned to expose him is Imagase, a former underclassman from his college days who holds a deeply personal interest in the case. Rather than immediately reporting the infidelity, Imagase reveals that he is gay and has harbored a romantic fixation on Kyoichi since their university years. He proposes a transactional arrangement: he will conceal the affair from Kyoichi's wife in exchange for the physical intimacy he once fantasized about. Desperate to salvage his crumbling marriage, Kyoichi reluctantly accepts the terms, believing it to be a simple, one-time compromise. However, this uneasy agreement quickly proves far more complicated than anticipated. What begins as a calculated bargain soon spirals out of control, drawing Kyoichi into an unpredictable and consuming entanglement with Imagase that threatens to upend every aspect of his life.
