Set two decades after the conclusion of the original series, this sequel follows Hajime Kindaichi as he navigates the mundane struggles of adulthood. No longer the brilliant student detective of his youth, he now works as an unremarkable office employee burdened by the daily pressures of corporate life. Determined to leave his investigative past behind, Kindaichi deliberately avoids trouble and attempts to maintain a quiet, low-profile existence, hoping to escape the shadow of his former reputation and the mysteries that once defined him. Despite his resolve to remain uninvolved, crime inevitably finds him, forcing the reluctant detective back into the fray. The new series begins with a return to Uta Island for the fourth iteration of the Opera House Murder Case, where a figure known as the Phantom of the Opera orchestrates a violent campaign of revenge. As bodies pile up and old theatrical curses resurface, Kindaichi must once again confront deadly puzzles and hidden motives, proving that even an exhausted salaryman cannot fully escape his innate talent for unraveling murder.
