Ide Nobuhisa, a talented and energetic track athlete, becomes captivated by a graceful tennis player he encounters after a competition. Determined to fulfill her promise to teach him the sport, he dedicates himself to entering Makunogama High School, only to discover upon enrollment that no student matches the name he remembered. Despite this mystery, Ide joins the tennis club alongside an old friend and meets Takita Louis, a skilled but temperamental first-year player. His fortunes change when he finally locates the girl, realizing he had misread her name tag; she is actually Takada Hinako, a former club standout who lost the use of her left leg in an accident and now believes she cannot honor her original vow. Although initially disheartened by Hinako’s withdrawal, Ide proves to be an exceptionally fast learner on the court. During a confrontation with Louis, Hinako unexpectedly offers him tactical advice, reigniting his passion despite his current lack of skill against his rival. The narrative tension escalates when the club president pairs the contrasting personalities of Ide and Louis as doubles partners for the upcoming inter-high school tournament. This forced partnership challenges both players to overcome their differences while navigating Hinako’s emotional recovery and the competitive pressures of high school tennis, blending athletic ambition with poignant personal growth.
