Those Snow White Notes

The shamisen is a traditional Japanese stringed instrument bearing a resemblance to a guitar. For teenager Setsu Sawamura and his older brother Wakana, it was far more than just an instrument. Raised by their grandfather, one of the most celebrated shamisen players in history, both siblings spent their formative years immersed in his music, learning to play under his devoted guidance. However, following their grandfather's recent passing, Setsu loses his sense of direction entirely. Overwhelmed by grief, he drops out of high school and relocates to Tokyo, drifting aimlessly through life with no clear purpose other than playing the strings he knows so well. His solitary existence is abruptly interrupted when his wealthy and highly successful mother, Umeko, storms back into his life. Determined to set her son on the right path, she takes decisive action by enrolling him back into high school. Yet, what begins as a forced return to normalcy soon becomes something much deeper. Unbeknownst to Setsu, this unexpected intervention will push him toward rediscovering his true passion for the shamisen and finding his own voice through its strings.
