Yukari has cultivated the image of a rebel. Defying her overbearing mother, she dyes her hair, paints her nails, and dates an older man. Yet beneath this defiant exterior lies a hollow reality; their relationship is purely physical, consisting of nothing more than singing in karaoke booths before retreating into intimacy. He never takes her on real dates, leaving Yukari with a connection devoid of genuine affection. Her carefully constructed persona is tested at the start of the new school term when she is forced to share a double desk with Miki, her complete opposite. Tall, traditionally beautiful, quiet, and fiercely intelligent, Miki carries herself with an aloof grace that immediately irritates Yukari. Wandering near the art room, Yukari unexpectedly witnesses Miki tenderly kissing a statue of Mars. The sight sends Yukari’s heart racing in a way she never anticipated.
