Zenmon no Tora, Koumon no Ookami

Captain Jotetsu is a warrior of exceptional skill and proven battlefield prowess, yet his military career has been entirely stagnant. Despite being far more capable than many of his peers, he lacks the political savvy and connections necessary to climb the ranks, leaving him perpetually overlooked for promotion. His talents are undeniable, but in a world where influence often outweighs ability, Jotetsu remains trapped in his current position. His fortunes appear to shift when he is assigned a critical mission: subdue a dangerous band of mountain thieves commanded by two formidable leaders. The outlaws are guided by Rou, a cunning figure known as the wolf, and Rekko, a fierce warrior recognized as the fiery tiger. Tasked with crushing their operation, Jotetsu sets out fully expecting to conquer the mountain stronghold and finally prove his worth to his superiors. However, the campaign takes an unforeseen turn. When Jotetsu finally confronts the mountain thieves, the dynamic of the battle is completely upended. Instead of emerging as the victorious conqueror he was sent to be, the highly capable captain finds himself utterly overpowered. In a stunning reversal of fate, the would-be conqueror becomes the conquered, leaving his future—and his loyalties—entirely uncertain.
