Koe no Katachi

Shoya is a relentless bully during his elementary school years. When Shoko, a deaf girl, transfers into his classroom, she quickly becomes the primary target of his and his classmates' cruelty. Rather than showing empathy, Shoya and his friends constantly egg each other on, devising increasingly cruel ways to torment her. Their collective malice eventually crosses an unforgivable line, resulting in Shoko being forced to transfer out of the school entirely. In the aftermath, the other children abandon Shoya, leaving him to shoulder the full weight of the blame for their shared actions. Six years later, fate brings the two former classmates face-to-face once again. Now burdened by the consequences of his childhood behavior, Shoya is confronted with the lasting damage he inflicted upon Shoko. As they reunite, he is left to grapple with a profound question: is it truly possible to atone for such deep-seated past mistakes, or has too much time already passed to ever make things right?
