An Autumn in Amber, a Zero-Second Journey

Kayato is a socially isolated high school student burdened by an overwhelming fear of physical contact and a profound inability to connect with his peers. During a class field trip to the coastal city of Hakodate, he endures awkward attempts to interact with his classmates—until reality itself fractures. Without warning, time halts for the entire world. The bustling streets fall into an eerie, absolute silence, leaving Kayato as the sole person still capable of movement in a completely frozen landscape. His solitary existence in this paused world is interrupted when he discovers Akira, a sharp-tongued local delinquent who is inexplicably unaffected by the phenomenon. Despite being polar opposites in temperament, she reluctantly agrees to help him unravel the mystery behind their predicament. Their only clue lies in the cryptic dying words of Kayato’s uncle, who spoke of a “world plucked out of time” and preserved like an insect trapped in amber. Believing that vital answers may be hidden among his late relative’s belongings back in Tokyo, the two teenagers must embark on a daunting journey across a motionless world to uncover the truth.
