Saki: Achiga-hen - Episode of Side-A

Achiga Girls' Academy, located in Nara, once made a remarkable mark in the competitive mahjong world by defeating the regional powerhouse Bansei High School. The school's team advanced all the way to the national semifinals before ultimately falling to the eventual champions. Following that devastating loss, the once-proud mahjong club was disbanded, leaving behind only memories of its brief glory. Six years after the club's dissolution, an elementary school student named Shizuno Takakamo forms a close friendship with a transfer student, Nodoka Haramura. The two girls eventually enroll together at Achiga Girls' Academy, but their time as classmates is cut short when Nodoka transfers to another school during her second year. The following year, Shizuno watches television and is stunned to see her former friend crowned as the national middle school individual mahjong champion. Inspired by Nodoka's extraordinary achievement and driven by a desire to reconnect through the game they both love, Shizuno resolves to revive Achiga's dormant mahjong club and restore the academy's legacy on the national stage.
