Mikako-san

The future is unwritten, and romance remains an uncharted territory for seventeen-year-old Mikako Ichimura. Yet, as her final days of high school slip away faster than she ever anticipated, the certainty of "undecided" begins to quietly shift. Following a routine classroom seating change, Mikako finds herself sitting beside Midorikawa, an eccentric classmate known for his peculiar preference for red pencils. At first, she pays him little mind, dismissing him as just another oddity in her daily routine. However, a shared discovery changes everything. When Mikako learns that they both harbor a deep love for the same band, the invisible wall between them slowly begins to crumble. What starts as casual indifference gradually blossoms into something far more meaningful, transforming their dynamic bit by bit as the remaining school days dwindle. Through subtle interactions and quiet moments of connection, the uncertainty of youth gives way to the gentle stirrings of affection. Rendered in a soft, literary style, this manga beautifully captures the fleeting, everyday life of a seventeen-year-old girl standing on the threshold of adulthood. It is a tender exploration of how small, unexpected commonalities can weave two lives together before time runs out.
