Black Coffee

Hayao is simply existing, drifting through the motions of a quiet, unremarkable life. His days are anchored by a solitary ritual: drinking bitter black coffee every single morning. One evening, he finds himself watching a singer perform at a local bar, observing the world from a distance rather than truly participating in it. Around him, his friends appear to be getting along well, yet an underlying uncertainty lingers beneath their interactions, leaving Hayao to quietly question whether their bonds are as stable as they seem. Beneath this mundane exterior, Hayao’s mind harbors a strange and persistent internal struggle. Two dwarfs reside within his thoughts, tirelessly working together to construct a wall. Yet, no matter how much effort they pour into their labor, the structure inevitably collapses just as they are on the verge of completing it. This endless cycle of building and ruin mirrors his own stagnant existence, playing out silently behind his eyes while he continues to face each new day with nothing but the sharp, familiar taste of black coffee.
