Anime Prison School wo Tsukutta Otoko-tachi

Created by Hanamura, this manga offers a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the anime adaptation of Prison School. The story centers on the chaotic creative process led by director Tsutomu Mizushima, who is affectionately known as "Crazy Boy." Rather than focusing solely on animation techniques, the narrative dives into the often absurd and highly energetic meetings of the production committee, where every detail of the show is debated with surprising intensity. The committee's raucous discussions frequently revolve around unconventional yet crucial elements of the series. Members find themselves locked in passionate arguments over seemingly minor details that ultimately define the anime's distinct tone. Among the most memorable debates are those concerning the precise color of Meiko's underwear and the specific sound effects required for Gakuto's infamous defecation scene. These moments highlight the bizarre dedication required to bring such an eccentric project to life. Adding another layer of authenticity to the production journey, the manga features appearances from the anime's principal voice cast. Hiroshi Kamiya, Katsuyuki Konishi, Kenichi Suzumura, Daisuke Namikawa, and Kazuyuki Okitsu all step into supporting roles within the story, bridging the gap between the fictionalized account of the studio and the real-world talent that gave the characters their voices.
