Wareware wa Uchuujin

During the summer of their third-grade year, a reserved boy named Tsubasa forms an unexpected bond with Kyotaro, a classmate widely admired by everyone around them. Despite their differences, the two quickly become inseparable, building a deeply personal connection within the small, sheltered world of their childhood. Together, they share quiet, irreplaceable moments that define their early years and shape who they are becoming. However, the fragile sanctuary of their friendship is abruptly shattered when a seemingly minor incident drives a sudden wedge between them. What begins as a small misunderstanding spirals into a painful separation, pulling the two boys down entirely different paths and leaving their once-close relationship fractured beyond immediate repair. Spanning more than three decades, Wareware wa Uchuujin traces the long-term consequences of that single childhood fracture. As Tsubasa and Kyotaro navigate the complexities of adulthood, their diverging journeys unfold against the passage of time. The film presents a gentle, deeply contemplative exploration of human connection, inviting viewers to reflect on the broader meaning of life through the enduring echoes of a friendship lost in youth.
