Ushiro no Hikaruko-chan

Hikaruko was a quiet, withdrawn girl who lived her life overshadowed by her own timidity. Her greatest regret came when she died in a sudden, tragic accident, passing away before she could ever muster the courage to confess her true feelings to her childhood friend. Now bound to the afterlife with a textbook tale of unrequited love and untimely demise, she finds that death offers no escape from responsibility. Instead of resting peacefully, she is immediately thrust into the workforce as a ghost, assigned to a demanding supervisor who expects strict adherence to the rules of the underworld. Her new occupation requires her to haunt and terrify the living, a task that proves far more grueling than she ever anticipated. For someone as inherently shy and reserved as Hikaruko, stepping out of the shadows to frighten others presents an overwhelming daily challenge. The physical and emotional toll of scaring people turns out to be surprisingly exhausting labor, especially for a girl who struggled to even speak up during her lifetime. Caught between the rigid expectations of her spectral superior and her own deeply ingrained insecurities, Hikaruko must navigate the bizarre demands of her afterlife career while learning to confront the very fears she once held herself.
