Eri

In a harsh world where survival is dictated by utility, cows that fail to bear calves are deemed expendable and cannot remain. Within this unforgiving reality lives Eri, a Holstein cow who finds herself drawn into an unexpected and forbidden affection for another female. Her existence becomes defined by a quiet but profound longing, one that defies the rigid expectations placed upon her kind. As sleepless nights stretch endlessly before her, Eri’s heavy sighs fill the darkness, carrying the weight of her unspoken devotion. She is left to wonder whether these whispered sorrows will ever reach the one she loves, or if they will simply fade into the silence of a world that offers no place for such feelings. Her internal struggle forms the emotional core of a poignant tale about desire, vulnerability, and the search for connection in an environment built solely on function. This deeply moving narrative is based on Kasumi Asakura’s novel “Who Else Is There?”, originally published in 2008 by Gentosha Inc.
