Kujira wo Yumemu

Created as Shuzuku’s graduation project, *Kujira wo Yumemu* presents a haunting vision of the near future. The story follows a solitary young woman who wanders through a landscape defined by quiet ruin and desolation. Stripped of society and human connection, she navigates this eerie, deteriorating world accompanied only by her dog, relying on the animal's presence as her sole comfort in an otherwise empty environment. Her isolation is interrupted each day at a precise hour by a mysterious voice broadcasting over her radio. This unseen figure recites poetry with unwavering regularity, transforming the daily transmission into a vital ritual that anchors the girl to a fading sense of time and meaning. As she journeys through the remnants of civilization, these poetic broadcasts serve as both a guide and a lingering echo of what once was. The film weaves together themes of solitude, memory, and artistic reflection, unfolding not as a conventional narrative but as an atmospheric meditation on loss. Through its evocative imagery and sparse interactions, the work captures a melancholic yet beautiful portrait of survival, leaving viewers with a resonant memory of a world quietly slipping away.
