Akane-banashi

Relying solely on one's voice and physical presence to captivate an audience is the ultimate test of a storyteller. Akane Ousaki grew up mesmerized by this very art form, deeply inspired by the enchanting performances of her father, Shinta Arakawa. However, her admiration was shattered when she witnessed a devastating incident during his most critical performance—a decisive stage meant to secure his promotion to shin’uchi, the prestigious master rank in traditional Japanese storytelling. Six years after that fateful day, Akane has grown into a determined high school student carrying the weight of her father's interrupted legacy. Rather than abandoning the craft that shaped her childhood, she resolves to step onto the stage herself. Her ambitious goal is to achieve the very rank her father fought for, aiming to become a shin’uchi through her own dedication and skill. To do so, she must navigate the fiercely competitive and demanding world of rakugo, where only the most compelling performers survive. Her journey transforms personal heartbreak into a driving force as she strives to honor the tradition she loves. Armed with passion and an unwavering commitment to authenticity, Akane pushes forward against seasoned rivals and daunting expectations. This compelling drama chronicles her fierce pursuit of mastery, proving that true storytelling requires nothing more than a voice, a body, and an unbreakable spirit.
