For six years, Keitaro has lived in isolation within the shuttered Obinata Fireworks Shop factory, single-handedly crafting fireworks while chasing the lingering illusion of his vanished father. Now, that solitary existence faces an abrupt end as authorities prepare to seize the facility through administrative confiscation tomorrow. The impending loss of the only world he has known forces him to confront both his past and his uncertain future. Set against a backdrop of escalating environmental crises, extreme weather conditions, and devastating disasters, the film follows Keitaro and two other young people as they navigate these overwhelming challenges. Together, the trio must endure the harsh realities imposed upon them, ultimately forging their own distinct identities out of chaos and hardship. Their journey is one of resilience, self-discovery, and the struggle to build meaning in a fractured world. The film was selected for the 2024 Annecy Animation Showcase at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Originally slated for a 2025 release, it was officially delayed to 2026 on May 20th of that same year.
