Han ye Deng Zhu

In a future winter where space travel has become reality, a once-prosperous film studio teeters on the brink of bankruptcy. Its sprawling grounds, featuring grand replicas ranging from the Great Sphinx of Giza to the Forbidden City, now lie buried beneath heavy snow and stripped of their former splendor. Zha, a solitary janitor, maintains this forgotten landscape with only a retired feline actor for companionship. Unable to pay his remaining wages, the studio owner compensates him with a virtual reality headset instead. Donning the device, Zha is instantly captivated by a digital realm. There, he meets a female player who invites him on a romantic voyage to the moon, offering an escape from his desolate reality. However, the physical world soon intrudes upon his quiet existence. Just as the studio prepares to close its doors permanently, a film crew arrives to shoot an alien invasion feature across the massive backlot. The production’s climactic sequence demands the actual demolition of the studio itself, temporarily resurrecting the decaying compound only to orchestrate its spectacular final destruction.
