Playing Sister

Set in a distant future where advanced science and technology have rapidly centralized within sprawling urban centers, the remote mountain settlement of Kagami Village remains isolated on the forgotten outskirts of progress. In this secluded community, ancient folklore still holds sway over the residents, most notably the chilling warning whispered to misbehaving children: “Behave yourself, or a Double will come for you.” Middle school student Akane Higure has spent the past year anxiously waiting for her older sister, Sui, to be discharged from the hospital. When Sui finally returns home, Akane’s relief is short-lived. Shortly after her sister's arrival, Akane receives an unsettling phone call that shatters her sense of security. The voice on the other end delivers a terrifying message: the girl currently living under their roof is not actually her sister. Suddenly thrust into a nightmare born from village legend, Akane must confront the horrifying possibility that the entity sharing her home may be something far more sinister than the sibling she was waiting for.
