Meitantei Kouko wa Yuuutsu

Set during Japan’s Showa era, a strict national law dictates that only those who successfully solve three exceptionally difficult cases may earn an official detective diploma. Driven by her ambition to obtain this prestigious credential, an aspiring investigator named Kouko accepts a challenging new assignment. She is tasked with uncovering the identity of an unknown individual threatening the life of Inukami, the young heir of a distinguished family currently residing at Shunjukan, a boarding house located in Tokyo. To conduct her inquiry without arousing suspicion, Kouko infiltrates the establishment under the guise of a cook responsible for preparing meals and caring for the residents. However, she quickly finds herself overwhelmed, as she possesses neither culinary talent nor sharp deductive reasoning skills, leaving her struggling to manage her daily duties alongside her investigation. To make matters far more complicated, the four lodgers sharing the boarding house are all deeply eccentric individuals. Balancing her chaotic cover job while attempting to unravel a dangerous mystery among such unpredictable residents proves to be a daunting endeavor for the fledgling detective.
