Their friendship appears to be an enduring constant in a world where little ever changes, offering both boys a deep sense of comfort and familiarity. However, everything shifts irrevocably on the day Hikaru returns from a trip into the surrounding mountains. Though he still wears his friend’s face, Yoshiki quickly realizes that the boy who came back is no longer the person he has known all his life. An unknown entity has completely taken over Hikaru, seamlessly assuming control of his body, his memories, and even his deepest emotions. What follows is a deeply unsettling unraveling of reality for Yoshiki, who must confront the horrifying truth that his closest companion has been replaced by something entirely alien.
