Kaiju No.8: Hoshina's Day Off

For the members of the Defense Force, a day off is an exceptionally rare occurrence. After enduring such an extended period of rigorous training, Reno finds himself entirely at a loss for how to spend his newly acquired free time. The concept of relaxation has become almost foreign to him, leaving the young recruit adrift in an unfamiliar sea of leisure with no clear direction or purpose. His aimless afternoon takes a sudden turn when he notices that Hoshina appears to be up to something during his own time away from duty. Driven by curiosity and a lingering sense of obligation, Reno decides to treat the situation as an unofficial assignment. He recruits Iharu to join him, and together they embark on a self-appointed mission to tail their superior officer through the city. What begins as a straightforward surveillance operation, however, quickly spirals far beyond their initial expectations. Instead of uncovering a routine personal errand or a quiet moment of rest, the two recruits find themselves swept into a series of events that veer sharply in an unexpected direction, turning a simple day off into an unpredictable adventure neither of them could have anticipated.
