Saka no Me

Every morning begins with a familiar descent down a sloping hill, marking the quiet start of another day. As evening approaches and the hours draw to a close, the journey reverses into a steady climb back upward toward home. This repetitive cycle of moving down and up the same incline shapes the entire rhythm of daily life, transforming a simple commute into an ongoing physical ritual. Amidst this constant motion, a deeper introspection quietly takes hold. The protagonist navigates the slope not merely as a path between destinations, but as a space for reflection, left to wonder what emotions truly surface during these solitary ascents and descents. The hill becomes both a physical boundary and a meditative threshold, prompting questions about the feelings that arise when one is suspended in the space between departure and return. This contemplative animated work explores the subtle emotional weight embedded within everyday routines. Saka no Me is a 2025 graduate film produced at the Tokyo University of the Arts, created within the Graduate School of Film and New Media's Department of Animation.
