Shinsei: Tamamizu Monogatari

In the enchanting world of Shinsei: Tamamizu Monogatari, a young fox experiences an overwhelming awakening when he encounters a beautiful princess visiting a flower garden near his home. The moment he lays eyes upon her, he is struck by an immediate and profound infatuation. Her grace and elegance captivate him entirely, transforming his quiet existence into one defined by an intense, unspoken longing. The vibrant blooms surrounding them serve as a fleeting backdrop to a connection that exists only in his heart, as she remains blissfully unaware of the creature watching her from the shadows. However, this sudden devotion quickly gives way to deep sorrow. Rather than finding joy in his feelings, the young fox becomes consumed by a heavy sense of self-loathing. He recognizes the vast divide between their worlds, painfully aware that his true nature as a fox makes him fundamentally different from her. In his eyes, this inherent distinction renders him entirely unworthy of the princess's affection or attention. Trapped between the purity of his love and the harsh reality of what he is, he must endure the quiet torment of an impossible attachment, unable to bridge the gap that separates them. This poignant animated film was produced as a 2025 graduate work at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media, Department of Animation.
