Uzumaki

Kurozu-cho is a small, fog-shrouded coastal town in Japan harboring a deeply unsettling curse. According to Shuichi Saito, the reclusive boyfriend of local teenager Kirie Goshima, their home is not haunted by any traditional ghost or monster. Instead, it is plagued by a shape: the uzumaki, or spiral, which acts as a hypnotic and hidden blueprint of reality itself. This cursed pattern reveals itself gradually, first appearing in the natural world through curling seashells, unfurling ferns, swirling whirlpools, and twisting winds. As time passes, the spiral's influence grows far more sinister, moving beyond nature to infect the townspeople directly. Strange spiral markings begin to appear on human bodies, while Shuichi’s father descends into a maddening obsession with the shape. Even the cochlea of the inner ear seems to whisper its insidious presence. The affliction spreads relentlessly, transforming Kurozu-cho into a place of escalating dread. The residents find themselves caught in an inescapable psychological and physical pull. Like victims trapped within a massive, churning whirlpool, the inhabitants are drawn ever deeper into the spiral’s madness, spiraling toward a terrifying fate from which there is no return.
