The Elusive Samurai

In the year 1333, the once-mighty Kamakura shogunate meets a violent and sudden end. The collapse is orchestrated from within when Ashikaga Takauji, a deeply trusted vassal, turns against his masters and ignites a devastating rebellion. Amid the ensuing massacre, Houjou Tokiyuki, the rightful heir to the fallen regime, narrowly avoids death. He is spirited away from the carnage by Suwa Yorishige, a devoted Shinto priest who guides the young lord out of Kamakura and into hiding. Now a fugitive stripped of his title, home, and power, Tokiyuki faces a perilous existence defined by constant flight and the daily struggle to survive. Hunted by the very forces that destroyed his family, he must rely on evasion and resilience rather than open warfare. Yet, even as he remains on the run, the young heir refuses to surrender his legacy. Working in secret alongside his protector, Tokiyuki begins to lay the groundwork for an ambitious plan to reclaim his stolen birthright and restore his rightful place in a fractured world.
