Kaiju No. 8

Japan endures the highest rate of kaiju appearances anywhere on Earth, making devastating monster attacks a grim reality of daily life. To combat this relentless threat, the Japan Defense Force operates as a specialized military organization dedicated to neutralizing these deadly creatures. Among those who serve in their shadow is Kafka Hibino, a man whose occupation involves cleaning up the remains of slain kaiju after battles conclude. Despite his unglamorous profession, Kafka has harbored a lifelong ambition to officially join the Defense Force and fight on the front lines. When an unexpected opportunity finally arises for him to pursue this childhood dream, his path takes a drastic and unforeseen turn. Instead of simply enlisting, Kafka undergoes a shocking physical transformation that alters his very nature. Now burdened with the form of the terrifying monsters he once sought to destroy, Kafka faces an impossible paradox. He must navigate his newfound identity while still striving to protect humanity, confronting a profound dilemma: how can he effectively battle kaiju when he has become one himself?
