Ishi no Youna Jikan no Melody

Overwhelmed by grief after the passing of his cherished dog, an elderly man resorts to desperate measures and manages to bring his companion back from the dead. However, this unnatural resurrection comes at a terrible cost. Rather than returning as the loyal pet he once knew, the dog transforms into a monstrous creature that ultimately devours its owner whole. Trapped within the belly of the beast he created, the old man finds himself plunged into a surreal internal landscape where escape is impossible. In this confined and haunting space, he is compelled to confront the memories he has long avoided and wrestle with the deeper meaning of his own existence. What begins as an act of profound sorrow evolves into an intense journey of introspection, forcing him to reckon with his past and the choices that have defined his life. Ishi no Youna Jikan no Melody is a 2024 graduate work produced at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media, Department of Animation.
