Kaze no Ou

A quiet village rests beneath the constant, enveloping sounds of a pipe organ. For as long as anyone can remember, nothing has disturbed this tranquil existence, but that peace is now on the verge of being shattered. As night falls, the resonant notes of the instrument blend seamlessly with the whispering wind sweeping through the settlement. Rising and falling, trilling and roaring, these beautiful chords fill the darkness. At a workshop situated by the road leading into the village, an old man carefully tunes the massive organ, coaxing from it a gentle melody meant to serve as a lullaby, beckoning the townspeople toward a restful sleep. Yet the children of the village do not hear a simple lullaby in those echoing notes. To their ears, the music carries a far deeper meaning—it is the voice of the King of the Wind. They recognize the sonorous chords as a battle cry, the very anthem that sounds whenever their unseen guardian goes to war. It is this mighty protector who has kept the village safe from harm, standing watch over its people while the old man plays his nightly song.
