Onimusha

Based on Capcom’s legendary Sengoku period video game, Onimusha is an original net animation that brings the iconic franchise to the screen under the guidance of acclaimed filmmaker Takashi Miike. Serving as chief director at animation studio Sublimation, Miike collaborates with series director Shinya Sugai to craft a visually striking adaptation. In a compelling creative choice, the character of Miyamoto Musashi is modeled after the late, prolific actor Toshiro Mifune, lending a profound sense of cinematic gravitas to the legendary swordsman. Set during the dawn of the Edo Period, the story follows a seasoned Miyamoto Musashi who is no longer the young warrior he once was. Despite the passage of time and the heavy toll of his past battles, he remains bound to a perilous destiny that refuses to release him. Armed with the legendary Oni Gauntlet, an ancient artifact of immense power, Musashi sets forth on a decisive journey into the unknown. His ultimate objective is to confront and destroy the Genma, a terrifying demonic force that threatens the fragile peace of the new era. As an aging warrior wielding supernatural weaponry against monstrous adversaries, Musashi must summon every ounce of his remaining strength for what may be his final and most harrowing battle.
