Biaoren

In the twilight years of the Sui dynasty, the term "Biaoren" denotes a specialized class of paid warriors. These mercenaries are hired to provide armed escort and protection, yet their clients are rarely ordinary travelers. Instead, they are tasked with defending fugitives who have been marked as wanted criminals by the ruling government. It is a perilous profession that demands both martial prowess and a willingness to operate outside the boundaries of the law. As the empire teeters on the brink of widespread civil upheaval, a suffocating reign of terror sweeps across the nation. The collapsing central authority has fractured society, leaving chaos in its wake. Amidst this volatile landscape, long-standing grudges and deep-seated animosities between various factions begin to surface and intensify. Old rivalries ignite into open hostility as different peoples seize upon the instability to settle historical scores. For the Biaoren navigating this treacherous era, every escort mission becomes a deadly gamble where shifting allegiances, personal vendettas, and the looming threat of war transform every journey into a fight for survival.
