Breakfast Eggs

Set against the quiet backdrop of a coastal town during the cold winter months, Breakfast Eggs is a gentle animated short that captures the serene rhythm of an ordinary morning. The story follows an elderly man as he goes about his familiar daily routine, carefully preparing a simple breakfast of rolled eggs. Within the warmth of his kitchen, he beats the eggs until they are perfectly blended, then pours them into a heated pan where they immediately begin to bubble and sizzle. This intimate culinary ritual serves as the emotional center of the film, grounding the viewer in the comforting stillness of the old man's solitary life. As the breakfast cooks, the world outside slowly awakens. Dawn breaks over the seaside landscape, casting a radiant golden light that sweeps across the town and filters into the quiet space where the man works. The interplay between the warmth of the stove and the emerging sunlight creates a tranquil atmosphere, transforming a mundane task into a moment of quiet beauty. Originally produced in 2023 as a first-year project for the Department of Animation within the Graduate School of Film and New Media at Tokyo University of the Arts, the film stands as a delicate visual meditation on time, light, and everyday rituals.
