A Turtle's Shell is a Human's Ribs

Kameda is a turtle-human navigating the ordinary yet extraordinary hallways of a high school populated entirely by animal-humans. Despite attending an institution filled with diverse hybrid students, his daily existence remains remarkably unremarkable. He belongs to the least popular social clique on campus, drifting through his classes in quiet obscurity and enduring a monotonous routine devoid of excitement or meaningful connection. For Kameda, life has settled into a predictable rhythm where standing out feels like an impossible feat. Everything shifts when an unexpected event disrupts his carefully maintained sense of invisibility. This chance occurrence forces him to confront a deeply personal challenge: he must finally open his "ribs"—a metaphor for exposing his innermost thoughts and vulnerabilities—to face his reality head-on rather than retreating behind his protective shell. Choosing to embrace this daunting exposure marks the beginning of a profound transformation. The film chronicles Kameda’s journey as he steps beyond his comfort zone, weaving a compelling narrative about the inevitable conflicts and emotional growth experienced by these unique animal-human students as they struggle to find their place in the world.
