Drifting Home

Sixth-grade students Kousuke and Natsume share a bond forged through years of growing up together in the very same apartment complex. As lifelong childhood friends, the building holds countless memories for them both. However, their familiar home is now slated for demolition, marking the end of an era. During their summer vacation, the two friends decide to spend time playing within the soon-to-be-destroyed structure, unaware that this ordinary afternoon will soon take an extraordinary turn. Without warning, Kousuke, Natsume, and their companions are engulfed by a bizarre and unexplainable phenomenon. When the strange occurrence subsides, the urban landscape they once knew has completely vanished. In its place, nothing but a boundless, endless ocean stretches out in every direction, leaving the children stranded far from anything recognizable. The apartment building itself now drifts aimlessly across the vast waters, transforming their nostalgic playground into an isolated vessel surrounded by mystery. Faced with this surreal predicament, the group must find a way to navigate their impossible circumstances and return to the world they left behind. As they struggle to survive and seek a path home, the children are forced to confront the shifting tides of their own relationships. What begins as a simple summer outing quickly evolves into a poignant journey of farewells, testing the strength of their friendship against the overwhelming expanse of the unknown sea.
