In the aftermath of a massive coalition war, all of China enters a period of economic recovery, and the victorious state of Qin is no exception. Yet peace on the battlefield does not mean peace within the royal court. The fierce political rivalry between Ying Zheng and Chancellor Buwei Lü intensifies. Having proven his leadership during the coalition campaign, Zheng has earned the trust of his people, but Lü remains a formidable adversary. Over the next eighteen months, the chancellor quietly orchestrates a plan to sabotage Zheng’s upcoming coming-of-age ceremony. As internal tensions mount, an external threat emerges when twenty thousand Zhao soldiers march toward Qin’s borders. With a shortage of capable generals, Lü cunningly proposes that Zheng lead the defense himself. Instead, Cheng Jiao, Zheng’s half-brother, steps forward to take command. Their bond forged during the recent war allows Zheng to confidently entrust the mission to him. However, after only half a day of combat, the Zhao forces abruptly retreat, hinting at darker schemes unfolding behind the scenes. As Qin’s internal struggles grow more treacherous, Zheng finds himself relying on just two men: Bi, a general commanding thirty thousand troops, and Xin, leader of the Fei Xin force.
