What the Friend?!

Sung-Ah never expected her world to unravel in the company of Kang Jae-Yun. As the son of her mother’s close friend and a buddy of her boyfriend, he was simply a familiar face lingering on the periphery of her life. However, everything shifts dramatically when she catches her boyfriend in the act of cheating, and of all people, it is Jae-Yun who happens to be standing right there beside her as she witnesses the betrayal. In the painful aftermath, Sung-Ah drowns her sorrows in alcohol, and Jae-Yun steps in to comfort her. Yet, as he tends to her broken heart, his demeanor feels inexplicably different. The casual warmth of a platonic companion has been replaced by an atmosphere that is strangely intense and entirely unfamiliar. Having a male friend is ordinary enough, but the way Jae-Yun carries himself now blurs boundaries she never thought to question, leaving her deeply unsettled by his shifting vibe. Caught between the sting of her ex-boyfriend's infidelity and the sudden, confusing tension radiating from someone she always considered safe, Sung-Ah realizes their dynamic can no longer continue as it was. Desperate to distance herself from these complicated new feelings, she finally confronts him with a single, heavy request: “Jae-Yun, could we stop being friends?”
