Soko wo Nantoka

Raised in poverty, Rakuko Kaise harbored a singular ambition from a young age: to become a lawyer and finally secure the financial stability her family always lacked. Driven by this practical goal, she worked tirelessly to fund her own legal education, spending her law school years supporting herself through grueling shifts at a local bar. Her relentless dedication ultimately paid off when she successfully passed the notoriously difficult bar examination, achieving the credential she had sacrificed so much to earn. However, Rakuko’s vision of a lucrative legal career takes an unexpected turn when she accepts a position at a modest, small-scale law office. Instead of handling high-profile corporate cases that promise substantial payouts, she finds herself assigned to minor disputes and everyday legal troubles that offer little to no financial reward. Through these unglamorous assignments, Rakuko is forced to confront the stark contrast between her original monetary ambitions and the genuine human struggles brought before her desk. As she navigates each low-paying case with growing dedication, she gradually transforms from someone motivated purely by profit into a compassionate, authentic attorney, discovering that true professional fulfillment often lies far beyond wealth.
