Special detective Kohachi Inugami is dispatched to a secluded mountain village to investigate a disturbing and grisly phenomenon: the sudden appearance of mutilated animal corpses scattered throughout the remote area. What initially appears to be the work of a local predator or a cruel prank quickly reveals itself to be something far more sinister. As Inugami begins his inquiry, he crosses paths with an enigmatic young boy who unexpectedly offers his assistance in unraveling the mystery surrounding the gruesome deaths. With the boy’s guidance, the detective soon realizes that ordinary explanations are insufficient. Dark, cursed supernatural forces are actively at work beneath the surface of the quiet rural community, driving the inexplicable violence. Piece by piece, Inugami delves deeper into the unsettling truth behind the killings, navigating a hidden world where the boundaries between the natural and the paranormal blur. Yet, as the investigation progresses, the most profound revelation may not be the source of the curse itself, but the true nature of his young companion—a mysterious figure whose origins suggest he might not even be entirely human.
